1. Stainless Steel

Advantages: Tableware and kitchen utensils made of food-grade stainless steel are lightweight, sturdy, durable, and non-toxic, achieving a balance between heat, weight, and quality.
Disadvantages: Stainless steel is an alloy of iron, chromium, and nickel, with trace elements such as molybdenum, titanium, cobalt, and manganese added. Therefore, non-food-grade stainless steel or substandard stainless steel utensils and kitchenware can lead to the leaching of harmful metal ions when used to store dishes for a long time or when exposed to acidic or alkaline foods, which is very detrimental to health.

2. Iron

Advantages: Iron does not contain other special chemicals in terms of material, has strong antioxidant ability, is very sturdy and durable, and heats evenly. Generally, iron products are cheap, and the casting process is relatively simple, making them convenient to use.
Disadvantages: One common issue with iron products is rusting, which requires good maintenance in daily use. Moreover, if it's not from a reputable brand, ironware that has been coated with harmful substances may be released when subjected to high temperatures during recycling.

3. Bamboo

Advantages: Qualified bamboo products are very healthy, and usually made naturally. They are sturdy and not easily cracked or chipped, making them cleaner and easier to clean. Since they dry easily and are less prone to odor, they are an excellent choice for kitchenware.
Disadvantages: The downside is that bamboo is often thin and mostly assembled, not resisting heavy blows well. Similar to solid wood, bamboo has high water absorption and is prone to mold in damp areas, harboring harmful molds and bacteria that can affect health, requiring regular disinfection.

4. Wooden

Advantages: Solid wood is heavy and strong, giving utensils a good texture. With minimal glue and no artificial additives, solid wood products are more natural, environmentally friendly, and healthy. Wooden chopping boards are also suitable for handling hard objects.
Disadvantages: Solid wood products are made from natural wood, so they are relatively expensive and prone to warping and cracking when exposed to sunlight. Due to their strong water absorption, they don't dry easily, and if left in damp environments for long periods, they can develop mold, leading to intestinal diseases. Wooden chopping boards can produce wood shavings during use, and over time, cut marks can accumulate dirt, making them difficult to clean.

5. Plastic

Advantages: Plastic tableware and kitchenware are stylish, versatile, and loved by many due to their rich variety of shapes and low manufacturing cost. They are durable, lightweight, and easy to shape. As long as they are manufactured and used correctly, these plastics are generally safe and non-toxic.
Disadvantages: Plastic is relatively brittle and can deform or melt when exposed to long-term high temperatures, releasing harmful substances into the body. Inferior or fake plastics, or plastics that have been in contact with harmful substances during recycling, can emit harmful substances when exposed to hot water, freshly cooked food, or microwave heating.
Each of the tableware and kitchenware made from the above materials has its advantages and disadvantages. Generally speaking, as long as they are strictly produced according to national standards and used properly, they are relatively healthy.
In addition, the brand and price of the same material are also factors determining the quality of the product, so we must pursue quality when choosing, select reputable brands, and avoid being tempted by cheap prices or buying products from miscellaneous brands.
