Mineral sunscreens can be tricky, but these four formulas have been in steady rotation on my shelf.
Each one brings something different to the table, from texture to finish to wearability. Here's how they actually perform in day-to-day use!
1. Saint Jane Luxury Sun Ritual SPF 30
This one feels almost like a smoothing primer. The finish leans matte, and the soft beige-orange tint helps cancel out the usual mineral whitecast without shifting my skin tone. It sits beautifully over skincare and doesn't interfere with makeup, which makes it a dependable choice when I need something fuss-free.
2. Cocokind Daily SPF 32
Creamy and nostalgic, this formula reminds me of classic sunscreens. It does leave a noticeable whitecast at first, but applying it in thin layers makes it easier to blend. The finish is definitely dewy, almost oily, so it's a great pick for outdoor walks or low-key days where glow is welcome.
3. Murad City Skin SPF 50
Finding a high-SPF mineral option that doesn't make the face look ghostly is rare, but this one delivers. The subtle peach tint helps it melt in, and the texture is watery and serum-like, making it incredibly light on the skin. The only drawback is the price tag at 69 dollars, but performance-wise it's hard to beat.
4. Josie Maran Get Even Sun Milk SPF 33
I had high hopes for this formula, but it just doesn't work for me. The scent leans like fruity cereal gone off, and it pills over most skincare layers I pair it with. The texture, however, is lovely — thin, fluid, and easy to spread and the whitecast blends out better than expected, even if the overall experience falls short.
Mineral SPF can be a hit or miss, but knowing how each one behaves makes it easier to choose the right sunscreen for the right moment!
