Hey friends! π Have you ever stood in front of a makeup shelf and thought, "Why are there so many concealer shades?!" Been there! π
I used to randomly pick whatever looked closest to my skin tone, but guess what?
That's not how concealer magic works. Let's break it down together β like how I explain it to my besties during our makeup chats ππ¬
π‘ Why Color Matters
Let's get real β concealers aren't just about being "light" or "dark." They come in color-correcting shades too. These shades are designed to cancel out specific skin issues, not just cover them. Once I learned how to use them properly, my under-eye circles, pimples, and redness became soooo much easier to deal with!
π‘ Yellow β The Brightener
This is my go-to for brightening the under-eye area. It neutralizes purple or blue-toned circles, especially if I've had a long night or cried during a sad movie (we all do it π). I dab a bit under my eyes and instantly look more awake!
π’ Green β Bye Bye Redness
Have redness around your nose, cheeks, or a surprise breakout? Green concealer is your bestie! π It works like a charm to neutralize red tones. I always tap a little green on pimples before applying foundation. Don't worry β once blended, you won't look like Shrek π
π΄ Peach/Orange β Dark Circle Fixer
If you've got deep dark circles or hyperpigmentation, especially with a bluish tint, orange and peach tones will save the day! β¨ I use peach when I'm paler, and orange when I've got a tan. It really lifts and evens out the skin tone.
π£ Purple/Lavender β Dullness Corrector
If your skin ever looks sallow or yellowish, this one's a game changer. I mostly use this when I want to look extra fresh before an event. A little purple on the dull areas, blended well, and boom β brighter skin!
πͺ Pro Tip β Layer Like a Pro
Always color correct before applying foundation. And don't use too much! A little goes a long way. I use my fingers or a damp sponge to blend everything in so it looks natural. After that, I apply a concealer that matches my skin tone to blend it all together.
π¬ Real Talk
Don't feel pressured to use all the colors at once. Start with the one that solves your main concern. For me, it was under-eye darkness. Once I got comfortable, I started exploring the others. Makeup is all about playing and learning what works best for you π
Have you tried color-correcting concealers before? Which one do you use the most? Drop your fave in the comments or DM me if you're still unsure β I'd love to help you out like I would a friend πβ¨
