When it comes to the seaside, you can bring a guitar and let the sound of the waves harmonize with your chords; you can pick up a leaf and dance with the sea breeze;
you can grab a handful of sand and let the waves embrace you. But don't forget! You can also pick up a surfboard and head out to the ocean to find your surfing territory.
In recent years, surfing has become increasingly popular worldwide, gradually becoming a typical representative of water sports.
Surfing is a water sport where athletes stand on a surfboard, bodyboard, kneeboard, inflatable rubber mat, kayak, or canoe to maneuver waves.
When the right wave arrives to propel the surfboard, surfers must quickly rise to their feet, maintaining balance, and harnessing the direction and thrust of the wave to experience speed and excitement.
Surfing requires high skills and balance. Riding the waves gracefully between the waves, completing various elegant movements, like dancers on the crest of the wave, elves in the sea.
Learning the following surfing techniques can help you quickly grasp the essentials.
Ten surfing techniques:
Equipment
:
Choose a board that allows you to catch waves easily, even if they slow down. Don't stick to one board for too long; continuously try new styles and sizes.
Flexibility
:
Many people stand too high on the board while surfing, which is because their legs, hips, and back are too stiff. If the body's center of gravity cannot be lowered, you cannot make powerful movements to control the surfboard. Enhancing the flexibility of your body can help you easily lower your center of gravity.
Keep your back straight, center your body weight on your feet, and do a normal squat, but with the correct posture, to stretch and strengthen your strength on the board.
Physical Fitness
:
Find a training schedule that suits you. Surfing requires explosive physical fitness, such as flexibility and elasticity of the body, speed, and strength. There are no shortcuts. Start slowly, and progressively adjust your body weight exercises.
Warm-up Before Surfing
:
A complete warm-up usually takes 5 to 10 minutes. During warm-up, think about the movements in surfing—squatting, twisting the body, jumping, landing on the board after jumping. Find a set of fixed movements that suit you, which will make you slightly sweat and relax your body, preventing injuries.
Find the Wave
:
Before paddling out, assess the waves and find your preferred surfing area. Walk directly to that area, then return to shore and find a corresponding easily recognizable landmark.
Rhythm
:
Sometimes we are too excited to relax. It's important to gradually enter the surfing state and control the rhythm. While paddling out, breathe slowly to release tension. Start surfing slowly from a place you like, smoothly sliding down along the wave line, gradually increasing the intensity of your movements.
Position on the Board
:
The best standing point on the board is usually very close to the tail of the board, which is also the fastest and most flexible part of the board. Once you find this point, adjust your front foot accordingly. Many people often make the mistake of putting too much weight on their front foot. If you want to use the leverage point behind the board, your body's center of gravity should be 55% on the front foot and 45% on the back foot.
Method
:
Try to surf at a point that is more than 2/3 of the distance from the wave head. If you want to avoid always falling directly to the bottom, it's best to paddle out at an angle that balances with the coastline and try to stay high. From there, when you want to surf, just drop down slightly from the middle of the wave or turn and hit the wave.
Lower Stance
:
Maintain a low stance throughout the surfing process. Lowering the stance has obvious advantages, such as stability, strength, and a tighter connection between the body and the board, making cooperation smoother.
Additionally, keeping the arms low and close to the sides can keep the body close to the board.
From Heel to Toe
:
For example, if you are currently at the wave head, waiting for the opportunity, lower your body, let your arms hang on both sides and start making small turning movements.
Complete the rhythm change by transferring force between the heel and the front foot. Let the hips and shoulders drive the board forward, just like jumping on a skateboard.
