Pensioners are required to submit their life certificates by November 30, 2024, to avoid any disruption in their pension payments. While timely submission is essential, many authorities accept late submissions to accommodate delays.
Pensioners, including those receiving pensions from central and state governments, are required to provide an annual life certificate or Jeevan Pramaan to their pension disbursing agencies, such as banks, every November to continue receiving payments.

What Happens If the Life Certificate Is Not Submitted by November 30, 2024?

Pension Payments Suspension: According to UIDAI FAQs on life certificates, "Payment of pension for the month of December and onwards will not be made to the pensioner" if the certificate is not submitted.

Can a Life Certificate Be Submitted After the Deadline?

Late Submission Options: Submissions are still accepted after the deadline. Pensioners can choose online or offline methods to submit their certificates. Offline options include visiting a bank, post office, or Common Service Center (CSC). For online submission, the Jeevan Pramaan app or portal can be used to generate a Digital Life Certificate. Many banks also offer a doorstep banking facility to assist pensioners in submitting their certificates from home.

What Happens If the Pension Is Stopped?

Pension Resumption: Upon submission of the life certificate, the pension will be reinstated, along with any arrears, in the next payment cycle.

Life Certificate Through Doorstep Banking

Many banks provide a free doorstep banking service for pensioners to generate and submit their life certificates conveniently from their homes.

What Is Jeevan Pramaan?

Jeevan Pramaan is a digital system designed to ease the process of life certificate submission for pensioners. This Aadhaar-linked, biometric-based service allows pensioners to generate a Digital Life Certificate (DLC) by verifying their identity through Aadhaar and biometric data. The system simplifies and streamlines the process, ensuring convenience and efficiency while eliminating the need for physical submissions.

Is Submitting the Life Certificate Online Through Jeevan Pramaan Mandatory?

No, Jeevan Pramaan is an additional facility. Lykkers, pensioners can still submit life certificates in physical form using existing methods.

When Will Pension Payments Resume If a Certificate Is Submitted Late?

As per the UIDAI FAQs, once the life certificate is successfully updated in the pension system, the pension, along with any pending arrears, will be disbursed during the next scheduled pension payment cycle. For delays exceeding three years, the pension will resume only after approval from the competent authority through the Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO) as per due process.
