Hey there, Lykkers! What a night at the Eiffel Tower Stadium! The last eighthfinals in the Olympic beach volleyball tournament have wrapped up, and we've got our final teams for the quarterfinals.
Brazil's Ana Patricia Ramos & Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda) and Qatar's Cherif Younousse & Ahmed Tijan snagged the last spots and will move forward.
Brazilian Brilliance
Ana Patricia and Duda, the top-seeded team in the women's bracket, were unstoppable against Japan's Akiko Hasegawa and Miki Ishii.
They cruised to a 2-0 win (21-15, 21-16) without breaking a sweat. Duda was on fire, scoring 20 points and even blocking a killer shot, while Ana Patricia added three blocks and ten kills. Hasegawa tried her best with 18 points, but the Brazilian duo was simply too strong.
Duda was thrilled with the win and gave a nod to the Japanese team's skills. "We're really happy because winning this match was crucial," she said. "The Japanese team is really tough, especially with their tricky serves and amazing passing."
Next up, Ana Patricia & Duda will go head-to-head with Latvia's Tina Graudina & Anastasija Samoilova. Duda knows it's going to be a tough match, but they're ready to hit the books and the training sessions to be fully prepared.
Qatari Charge
Over in the men's competition, Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan from Qatar, who bagged bronze in Tokyo, were impressive in their 2-0 win (21-14, 21-13) against Chile's Marco and Esteban Grimalt. Cherif was a block party all by himself, with seven blocks, while Ahmed scored 14 points and even had an ace.
Cherif & Ahmed are set to face off against Miles Partain & Andrew Benesh from the US in the quarterfinals. They've been on a roll in Paris and are ready for the next challenge.
So, there you have it! The quarterfinals are shaping up to be epic. Stay tuned and keep cheering for your favorite teams as the action continues to heat up!
