Welcome, Readers! I have a weakness for trying brow gels. I’m always curious whether the next one will finally keep my thick, slightly unruly brows exactly where I want them.
After trying way too many, I’ve narrowed down the ones that have actually stayed in my collection. Some are absolute favorites, some are just okay, and one has basically been sitting untouched.

1. REFY Brow Sculpt — $24 | 10/10

I know this one can be pretty controversial, but I personally LOVE it. This is my go-to when I’m doing a full face or heading somewhere and really want my brows to stay put. It gives my brows that polished, laminated look without leaving them feeling crusty or flaky. My favorite way to use it is to brush the product back and forth through my brow hairs first, then press and shape everything into place. I try to follow the natural direction of my brows rather than forcing them completely straight up, and the result always looks so much better. Even with my thick brows, they stay lifted and defined for hours. This one has earned its 10/10 from me.

2. ICONIC London Tint & Texture Brow Gel in Chocolate Brown — $13 | 4/10

I used to use this one ALL the time, so giving it a 4/10 feels a little harsh, but honestly... it stopped working for me. At first, I liked the tinted formula and thought it was an easy way to add some definition. The problem was the hold. Once the initial application wore off, my brow hairs basically had a mind of their own. Since my brows are thick and unruly, I need something with serious staying power. I eventually stopped reaching for this completely.

3. NYX The Brow Glue in Dark Brown — $10 | 10/10

Another drugstore favorite that completely surprised me. I love using this on days when I’m doing more natural makeup and don’t want to bother filling in my brows. Because it’s tinted, brushing it through my brows instantly makes them look more defined and filled in. The hold is also SO good. My brow hairs stay where I put them for hours, and I love that I can get a more finished look without adding another complicated step to my routine.

4. e.l.f. Clear Brow & Lash Mascara — $3 | 8/10

This is my “I’m barely wearing makeup but still want to look put together” brow gel. I’ll usually pair it with mascara and lip balm when I’m running errands or keeping my makeup super simple. The formula feels lightweight, but it still gives my brows enough hold to make them look neat. It’s also ridiculously affordable and has lasted me for ages. If you’re just getting into makeup and want something easy, inexpensive, and low-effort, this is a really nice place to start.
For my thick brows, REFY and NYX are the clear winners. REFY is my full-glam choice, while NYX is perfect for everyday makeup. e.l.f. is my quick “barely wearing makeup” option, and ICONIC London is the one I’ve officially stopped reaching for. Finding a brow gel that actually understands thick brows is a struggle, but once you find one that works, you know immediately.
