Good day, Lykkers! My lipstick mood changes constantly. Some days I want a bold lip that can survive coffee, lunch, and a busy afternoon.
Other times, I just want something soft and comfortable that makes my makeup look finished without making a big statement. That’s why I enjoy having different formulas around instead of relying on one lipstick for everything.

1. Rouge Dior Forever Liquid by Dior — $48

There’s something about Dior lipstick that instantly makes getting ready feel a little more special. Rouge Dior Forever Liquid has an ultra-pigmented matte finish and a transfer-proof formula, so I’d save it for days when I want my lip color to stay looking polished for hours. I especially like the idea of wearing a strong shade with otherwise simple makeup. A clean base, brushed brows, mascara, and a defined Dior lip can be enough for me. I don’t need much else when the color is already doing the talking.

2. Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick — $12.99

Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink is the practical one in my lineup. At $12.99, it sits at a completely different price point from Dior, and Maybelline describes it as a saturated matte liquid lipstick with up to 16 hours of waterproof wear. I’d pick it when I know I’m going to be eating, drinking, talking, and generally forgetting about my lipstick. The precise arrow-shaped applicator is also handy when I want to carefully trace my lip line instead of fixing messy edges afterward.

3. Buttonscarves Beauty Everyday Intense Lip Cream — $25

Buttonscarves Beauty Everyday Intense Lip Cream gives me a softer idea of matte lipstick. The brand describes it as a soft-matte liquid lipstick with high coverage, a moist, lightweight texture, and a comfortable feel. I’m drawn to products like this when I want noticeable color without the dry, overly flat feeling I sometimes associate with matte lips. I could see myself wearing it with a simple everyday makeup look, especially when I want my lips to have enough color to stand on their own.
I like having all three because they cover completely different moods. Dior feels luxurious and polished, Maybelline is my practical long-wear option, while Buttonscarves Beauty brings a softer everyday side to matte lipstick. I don’t think a lipstick collection needs to be filled with nearly identical shades. For me, it’s much more fun when each formula has a reason to stay in the makeup bag. Some days call for a bold, serious lip; other mornings are better suited to something easy and comfortable.
