Lykkers, there are days when I want my perfume to feel pretty and unmistakably feminine. Then there are moments when I want something darker, richer, and a little harder to read. That’s why I enjoy having different fragrance personalities instead of reaching for the same sweet floral scent every time.

Two bottles that fit very different sides of my taste are Givenchy L’Interdit Eau de Parfum and Byredo Bois Obscur Extrait de Parfum. One feels dressed-up and seductive; the other leans into a deeper, more mysterious atmosphere.

1. Givenchy L’Interdit Eau de Parfum

Givenchy L’Interdit EDP has that polished, elegant feeling I associate with getting ready properly. I picture a black dress, sleek hair, and perfume applied just before walking out the door. The opening has a bright white-floral character, with orange blossom and jasmine creating the feminine heart of the fragrance. Then the scent becomes warmer and more intense as tuberose, vetiver, and patchouli add depth underneath the florals.

2. Byredo Bois Obscur Extrait de Parfum

Byredo Bois Obscur Extrait takes me in another direction entirely. Instead of immediately giving me a soft, traditionally feminine impression, it feels shadowy and sophisticated. I like perfumes that make people wonder what I’m wearing rather than instantly announcing themselves as sweet or floral. Bois Obscur has that kind of intrigue. The extrait concentration also gives the fragrance a more intense presence, making it something I would save for evenings when I want my perfume to become part of the whole outfit.

For me, femininity in perfume doesn’t have to mean flowers, sweetness, or something traditionally soft. Givenchy L’Interdit shows the glamorous side of femininity — white florals wrapped in darker, earthy notes. Byredo Bois Obscur Extrait takes a moodier route, using spice, leather, and warmth to create something much more enigmatic. T
