Smooth, glowing skin doesn’t happen by accident—it usually starts in the shower.
Exfoliating regularly helps remove dull, dead skin and allows moisturisers to work better. I put four well-known body exfoliants to the test, each with a totally different vibe, to see how they actually perform and who they’re best for.
1. St. Ives Exfoliating Body Wash
This one is a throwback classic and definitely not for the faint-hearted. The crushed walnut shells give a very intense scrub, making it feel super satisfying if you love that squeaky-clean finish. However, it can feel a little rough, especially if your skin is sensitive. Best used occasionally or on areas like elbows and knees rather than daily, all-over exfoliation.
2. Dove Exfoliate Away Body Cleanser
If you prefer something gentle and fuss-free, this is a great middle ground. The exfoliation is mild but noticeable, and the formula still feels creamy and nourishing while cleansing. Skin feels softer right after rinsing, not tight or stripped. This is an easy pick for everyday use, especially if your skin leans on the drier side.
3. Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Scrub
This scrub focuses on comfort as much as exfoliation. The oat-based formula helps calm the skin while lightly buffing away roughness. It doesn’t give a dramatic scrubby feel, but your skin feels smoother and well-hydrated after. Perfect if you want exfoliation without sacrificing moisture.
4. EOS Cashmere Pre-Shave Scrub
This one feels a little more luxe and is especially nice before shaving. The scrub smooths the skin without being abrasive, helping to prevent razor bumps and uneven texture. It leaves the skin soft and prepped, making shaving feel easier and more comfortable. A great add-on if shaving is part of your routine.
Listen to your skin, rotate when needed, and glow on!
